Clearly the Giants are Crossfitters and the Patriots are not.

SO guys as Michelle posted Sunday, I competed in my first Oly meet! It was really fun and I was nervous especially since my shoulder was really lousy last week. On Wednesday my arm went completely numb during a snatch!! (I found a great chiro in Northern NJ that uses lasers and other modalities and also takes my health insurance!! Saw him both Fri and Sat evening)

I decided that I want to be involved in the sport for a while so it wasnt worth taking excessive risks with my lifts. I played it quite conservative but id walk away with a medal too!

And wearing the singlet wasnt all that bad either! My next goal is to attend the masters Natls meet in Savannah, GA in April!

Oh look who made the Catalyst Athletics Site? Albeit, during warmups with training plates, at the cert a few weeks ago

Back Squats:
105x3x3
110x3x2

Leslie, you are strong! Good to see you... Maybe we'll see you tomorrow?

Posted by: xuan mai at February 4, 2008 9:33 AM

Thanks, will post video when I receive it! But I will say that I went up to receive my medal with a "RESPECT" baby T on! Now how is that for loyalty, Tyler?

Posted by: sarena at February 4, 2008 9:37 AM

This was horrible. I guess the new baby effect is finally setting in. Lack of sleep, shit eatinn BC of lack of time and inconsistent workouts. Does not set the stage for improvement.

Back squat 5x3
185 205 210 215x2 215
Pb was 235

Congrat Sarena! Post that video.

Congrats Dammit-will drop a line to make you look cool and of course no one was there because the Patriots fan were tired from weeping for time!

Brendan thanks for having me over-it was fun party. Good to see you Marisela.

American Gladiator Siren working out at CF Cleveland

Posted by: Jeff at February 4, 2008 2:46 PM

Jeff,
No.

Sarena,
Congrats!

Posted by: Ewen at February 4, 2008 2:47 PM

Wow, wonder if thats the "before" video? Some iffy form on that.

Posted by: Justin at February 4, 2008 3:08 PM

I should like to do Gladiator Burpees from now on, please.

[Am just pokin' a little fun - no idea what injuries/limits/training goals are involved here.]

Posted by: Moon at February 4, 2008 3:17 PM

I was scrutinizing Siren's form as well. I have no criticisms.

Oh wait, were we talking about the burpees?

I think I read that Fury is a figure skater from around New York. Can we extend an invitation for her to come by? We can have a WOD that involves seeing how long we can stand on a plyo box before she knocks us off with a giant Q-Tip.

Posted by: Jeff at February 4, 2008 3:27 PM

Scratch that part about "skater" for Fury.

Couldn't do heavy backsquats because don't have rack but newayz did it picking it off the bench press rack( very hard, basically did a partial squat n went under the bar and picked it up with bar on shoulders) but got to do 145 lbs as rxd. it think I can do 165 but i need a rack

Posted by: Rajib at February 4, 2008 5:07 PM

Hey everyone I hope you've been working hard this past week. Once again my exam schedule prohibits me from coming in for a little while but I can't wait to get back!

Right now, however, I need some help. One of my upperclassmen is taking her second part of the boards examination (which are required to get your degree) but two of her patients dropped out. She needs somebody to replace them but needs specific cavities. So if anybody can spare about 15-20 minutes either Tuesday or Wednesday morning to come down to the NYU College of Dentistry to get checked out it would be awesome! If you have the cavities she needs you will get FREE work done and she will actually pay you to be there for you; I have no idea how much though. The only caveat is that the boards exam is this Saturday so it's real last minute. If you're interested at all either shoot me an email at ap1606@nyu.edu or give me a call at 262-945-8896. Thanks Everybody and see you soon.

Posted by: Adam at February 4, 2008 5:20 PM

Rob - While I am certainly not eligible to participate on the show, I would gladly check out the auditions with you and/or anyone else who would give this a shot. Seems to me that excepting the direct combative elements, CF-type training would make some of us very well suited for just this sort of game.

Posted by: Moon at February 4, 2008 5:31 PM

I have a cavity!

Shoulder issues forced me to do front squats instead of back squats.

Front Squats:

3 x 135
3 x 145
3 x 150
2 x 155 (Previous 1RM)
1 x 165 F stupid should have jumped by 5
1 x 160 F gassed

next time fs come up I'll hit 160 at least

Posted by: AllisonNYC at February 4, 2008 7:37 PM

225x5

275x3
285x3
295x3
305x3
315x3, light spot on 3rd rep

Posted by: Brett_nyc at February 4, 2008 8:29 PM

165, 175, 185, 195, 205

Posted by: Hari at February 4, 2008 8:32 PM

225, 245, 255, 275

Felt solid at 275.

Posted by: Ewen at February 4, 2008 8:39 PM

Man, I think I have about 3 cavities, but I couldn't get down there in the AM...

265x3x5 For some reason, these were very hard tonight, and decided to keep it light. Guess it must have been that superbowl junk last night.

Posted by: Justin at February 4, 2008 8:40 PM

omg, i need to get to crunch in nyc this wkend. how many other 6 ft/180# chicks are there?

ive decided my gladiator name is apex. fitting, no?

Posted by: ec at February 4, 2008 9:43 PM

Let me know if you are coming EC!! Lets lift together!

Posted by: sarena at February 4, 2008 9:54 PM

Keith, Josh, and Court,

It was nice meeting you guys at the airport on Sunday -- hope that you had a safe flight home. It was too bad that security didn't let Court take his kettlebells on the plane.

I look forward to visiting the Black Box when I'm in NYC on business.

Take care,
Steve English aka 'Olde English'

Posted by: Olde English at February 4, 2008 10:14 PM

I got a PR but still felt a bit weak today
225, 235, 245, 265, 265

AG tryouts this weekend? Jack Bauer may need to make an appearance!

Posted by: Jack Bauer at February 4, 2008 10:22 PM

Court-- trying to take kettlebells on a plane? Seriously? I gotta hear this story.

Posted by: dan def at February 4, 2008 10:29 PM

court-i was going to try and tak mine to florida with me on wed- seriously what happened?

Posted by: michelle at February 4, 2008 10:58 PM

Back squat x3
225 - 235 - 245 - 260 - 275

Posted by: Moon at February 5, 2008 1:27 AM

Back squat X 3

105-115-135-145

last set 135X 2 -knee started to hurt

Posted by: Tiffany (Tippy) at February 5, 2008 11:00 AM

Back Squats:
135-
155-
175-
185(3rd rep F)
185(ugly but done) [benchmark]

Went home mad at myself for being able to bench more than I can squat. Combination of bad form (knees going in, weight going forward, back rounding) and no power led to some underwhelming results. Have to squat with weight more often.
