I see someone else is hitting the refresh button ;-)
So, thoughts for today: Will you be armed with will and determination, or skill and its frustration?

Missed posting it on yesterday's page so:
Cindy- 11 rounds + 5 pull ups (benchmark)
Since it was my first time doing it, I focused more on keeping good form than on speed. I noticed that the last two sets really fell apart, when I could only do 2 or 3 push-ups at a time. Burning out on the push ups and breaking rhythm really kills your time. Any advice on increasing my ability to keep to solid, good form sets of 10 above my current level of only 4 in a row? Just grease the groove?
Thanks to the members of the first evening group who hung around to cheer on the second heat. Also, having Adam stay and beat me in his SECOND cindy in less than a hour is what you might call...motivating. That or downright impressive. Maybe both. Good job, man.

Kurt,
Some people like to break up the push-ups from the very beginning, like sets of 5/5. This seems to help with eventual wear and tear during the WOD. However, the key to getting more push-ups unbroken is to do more push-ups. We can go over form the next time you're in, if you'd like.

Here's an article on the woman who is closing in on the record for having undergone the most plastic surgeries.

Keith, I think we all know by now that instead of bench presses, the baby should be doing deadlifts, squats, and presses as they are far more effective at building functional strength.

Good job to the morning crew!

The look on the father's face is priceless-really sells the picture. But in my opinion, that baby ain't shit until he can do some burpees for time. And with his height, he should be killing some tabata pushups and squats! That's just me.
Ewen to answer your question, I'd rather be armed with determination and will. Skill can come in time and frustration is a part of perfecting them. But repetition can fix that. There are no exercises that can imbibed a man with the will to succeed-either has it, or he doesn't.

Thanks to the lunch crew for pushing me and thanks again to Keith for making me throw another 20lbs on the bar. It's always nice to realize that I underestimate myself!

Grace
10:51 as rx'd 135lbs
Squat cleans took a lot of energy and my jerks leave much to be desired. Sort of a push press thruster thing going on at times. Must work on these!! Nice work morning crew and thanks for the tips Ethan. You killed it this morning!

Hi crossfitnyc
I am a crossfitter...not sure if that is the term..and I am NYC for some work. It is really short notice but I figured I would ask. Any chance I could drop by for Grace tonight at 8:15pm? I e-mailed info@crossfitnyc.com and read the faq's.

Brett, how did you partition? Just do as many as you can? 10-10-10, 5x6, etc?
Posted by: Justin at January 29, 2008 3:18 PM
Matt
Come on in. Earlier is better, but 8'15 is okay if that's the only time you can make it.

6:41 Sub 105 lb Power Cleans (PR)
Posted by: Hari at January 29, 2008 8:23 PM
Yeah... Started out w/ 6 then 5. Quickly devolved to sets of 1-2. 10:50 as R'xd.
Posted by: Justin at January 29, 2008 8:52 PM
As Rx'd w/half squat cleans, 14 power cleans, and 1 split clean (and a mix of split and power jerks) in 11:37. I used this more as practice C&J'ing than a WOD, was still freaking hard, especially when I weighed in at 148 today. I had ~4lbs of sweat on me at the end.
