Press It, Push It, Jerk It. Repeat as Necessary.
Shoulder press 1-1-1-1-1 reps
Push press 3-3-3-3-3 reps
Push Jerk 5-5-5-5-5 reps
Post loads to comments.

The shoulder press is to the push jerk what the strict pull-up is to the kipping pull-up. The analogy holds across a score of physical and physiological attributes.

I think what Juan is really doing in Asia is training people to do the Thriller dance.

for those of you who don't read the whole blog, and don't check the links posted because they have lives, unlike myself, the urbanathalon IS registration for a team, unless you wanna pay $110 to do it by yourself. so its probablly best to get teams together to register so we are already in groups. i will send an email to all that have said they are interested and try to get the groups worked out.
i told you i don't have a life
better yet, my life is fitness!

Marisela, sounds like a great field trip and you make a great scout leader but I may be away. If not I will be the teams offical Photographer.
The WOD sounds fun see y'all at 7:00.

FYI
I heard that teams in the Urbanathalon are run as relays so each team member only runs 1/4 of the race. You should double check that and make sure.

Hey someone just emailed me and pointed out that I am in the video on todays WOD from Rips PL cert! Go CFNYC

so now i am a kitten and a scout leader. doing a lot of good for the tough mohawk look.
these team races are usually run as relays so you can work off your team members particular strengths.
sorry to say not everyone gets to do everything unless you register solo.

Linkydinkies:
http://www.menshealthurbanathlon.com/course.cfm
http://www.menshealthurbanathlon.com/rules.cfm
http://www.menshealthurbanathlon.com/regform1.cfm
Facts:
-Solo or 3-person relays (any combination of guys/gals allowed)
-$90 solo, $135 team (by Aug. 31st)
-Running, obstacles, and up/down 52 flights of stairs
-Total distance 8.1 miles (id est under 3 miles per leg for the relays)
Thoughts:
Should teams be balanced, stacked, monosexual, bisexual? Anybody planning on doing it solo?
Obviously CFNYC t-shirts should be mandatory for participants and cheerleaders, and hopefully we can get some team practices going to work on running and clearing those obstacles.

unspamification complete! just an FYI to everyone who'd like to avoid having their well-written comment end up in the spam filter: be sure to not put 2 or more links in your post. if you have more than one link you'd like to post, just post it in subsequent comments instead all in one comment. thanks.

Wow the one thing I must say though is that despite the workout sucking today--I am trying to GTG with dh pullups! I got 12 while I was at the box today!

It's official- I have a job :/
I'm a trainer at Equinox on Wall Street.
After working at NYSC and joining the Box I thought I would never work or set foot in another big chain gym again. This gym actually impressed me. Almost every trainer I talked to uses Crossfit or at least knows about it. I was sold when my boss took me to the functional training space. It had bumper plates, boxes, about 20 kettlebells and a hot guy doing heavy cleans!
One of the trainers introduced himself and asked if I do Crossfit then said he saw me kicking ass at the Steve Cotter seminar. These people are nothing like the fat ass trainers at NYSC.
I stayed at the gym for 5 hours after my interview. I did Grace in 445 with 75#. Then after chatting with some people I did 10-1 pullups and sets of 20 squats and played with the KBs.
Now the bad news- No more Black Box for A2. I'm going to try to follow Crossfit on my own at the gym since I'll have access to everything I need anytime for free.
I'm really sad

Your ceaseless posing and primping will be missed at The Box, Screech. With you and Court both working at Equinox, they are starting to suck a little less. Please come back when you can and bring towels. :)

MP 145 x 1 x 5
PP 155 x 3 x 5
PJ 155 x 5 x 2(ugly), 135 x 4 x 2(getting uglier), 125 x 5 x 2(sort of o.k.)
Started to burn out at this point. Form was really suffering so backed off on the weight.

MP 145x1x5
PP 155x3x5
PJ 155x5x3, 135x5x2
My jerk form really sucks so I had to back down on the weight. I also need to work on my hip drive as Keith pointed out to me. however, I am very pleased with my military press because it actually went up 5lbs from the total and I have done no pressing!

Hey Court- I want to get a kettlebell cert asap. What are my options?
Posted by: A2 at August 10, 2007 11:11 PM
We will definitely miss you A2. Good luck and congrats on the new gig! Stop by every once in awhile and say hello.
