Park Life

Thanks to everyone who made it out to one or both of this weekend's Central Park workouts. Tomorrow we'll be back at the box, back on the regular schedule, but I don't think this will be our last park workout, especially as summer has just started.

Here's some pics of the fun you missed if you weren't there:

Great shots. You all look awesome

Posted by: A2 at June 3, 2007 8:42 PM

Congrats, Alex!

Posted by: Allison at June 3, 2007 8:44 PM

Since we fell behind, tomorrow's WOD will be
30 Muscle Ups for time.

Going forward we will be focusing on some of the basics of bodyweight exercises.

Congrats on the personal best, Alex!

Nice job Alex! Allison, once again your photography is awesome! Great workout in the park today!

crossfit at night!

Posted by: juan g. at June 4, 2007 12:59 AM

Are we really doing MUs today?
I don't even want to think about doing 120 pullups or dips.

Posted by: A2 at June 4, 2007 11:52 AM

i hate the subways! got to platform at noon on 1/9. at 12:25 still no train. ugh! and i was all decked out in my cf sweatshirt to boot! going to make up my own woekout downstairs in my gym where there are no weights or anything useful.

Posted by: michelle at June 4, 2007 12:32 PM

don't worry A2, all you have to do is 60 jumping MUs. no biggie! :)

Posted by: Allison at June 4, 2007 12:35 PM

21:30 Sub (2:1) Jumping Muscle Ups (bottom of the rings head level.)

You guys did a great job today!

12:50 Sub (2:1) Jumping Muscle Ups (bottom of the rings ~ shoulder level.)

Posted by: Moon at June 5, 2007 12:36 AM

presumably no snatches, so what's the deal today?

Posted by: chad at June 5, 2007 8:28 AM

What is the WOD??

Posted by: A2 at June 5, 2007 12:00 PM

The WOD is: show up and sweat. Like always.

Posted by: Dan O at June 5, 2007 1:27 PM

i'm bringing my girlfriend Janice to the 6pm class. She was planning to go to her gym (Curves) before the Box but I told her that was a stupid idea.
I want to be able to tell her what to expect today.

Posted by: A2 at June 5, 2007 1:58 PM

When is someone going to open up a Curves for men? I'd be a founding member if they promised me a hoodie.

Posted by: Jeff at June 5, 2007 2:45 PM

apparently no one showed up this morning, so the WOD was up to court at noon.. we did a bunch of KB snatch squat press things on each arm, and then failed to really do much of them with both arms at once..

Posted by: chad at June 5, 2007 3:18 PM

ohmygod Curves. that is hilarious. and i think they faced oodles of lawsuits from all the women who got injured running like lunatics from one machine to the next! I can say that my mom who tips the scale at a good solid weight went to Curves and only developed more curves.

if Curves were the last exercise program available it would be best to just lay around and eat yourself to death.

Posted by: michelle at June 5, 2007 3:50 PM

yeah, Michelle--Curves is definitely the last gasping breath (I hope) of the figure salon era of the 60s and 70s when they used "passive" exercise and floor work:

I actually remember seeing those fat-jiggle machines at Elaine Powers as a little kid, tagging along with my mom.

Maybe I should start my own gym where men can discretely work out. I've narrowed my name choices down to three:
1. Rolls
2. Folds
3. C-Hunks

Manland.

Posted by: Moon at June 5, 2007 5:07 PM

Jeff-there is a Curves for men in Rockland COuty--its called Cuts!! But all the men I see coming out of there are morbidly obese--you think the deal is a cut of their wallets???

Posted by: sarena at June 5, 2007 6:14 PM

So its been a while since Ive hit the old kettlebells and got a new found appreciation for them... Im exhausted.

Posted by: Justin at June 5, 2007 9:26 PM

Yoon,

I'll be at the City Climber Club on Thursday at 630. It's on 59th between 10th and 11th. The cost is $15.
This invitation is open to the whole crossfit community, but I know Yoon was asking inparticular.

Thanks Rob!
I may have a conflict this Thurs, unfortunately:(

Did you say that you usually go Tuesdays as well?

Posted by: Yoon at June 5, 2007 11:12 PM

Yeah, I go on tuesdays too. I can go pretty much any day with enough notice. Just let me know.

Posted by: rob at June 5, 2007 11:24 PM

jeff i vote for folds. that is particularly nasty.

"ripples" might be another one to consider if for some reason your top three names are already taken.
As for clothing design-
perhaps in lieu of "founder", the arm of the hoodie could say "rounder" !
while a nice tag line for a t shirt might be one of the following:
"we store fat so YOU don't have to!"
"wev'e got your back. fat"

and the site could help new mwmbers by offering subs for the WOD such as

subbing "double unders for double chins"
or
"knees to man boobs for knees to elbows"
