Saturday Morning Snatch!

Saturday 070505

Power Snatch 3-3-3-3-3-3-3 reps

Post loads to comments.

Don't know what the heck a power snatch is? Never fear, just watch this video on CFHQ's site. And while you're over there, check out the jumping squats as well. Brutal!

This past week or so at The Black Box seemed to be more like the International House of CrossFit than anything else, with visitors from Finland, CrossFit Manchester, and two different dudes from Stockholm, Sweden on the same day who didn't even know each other (but will soon--we passed along contact info). CrossFit truly is an international phenomenon!

Remember, Saturday morning's schedule is 10am WOD class, 11am on-ramp class, and noon kettlebell class. Then we're heading up to 4th Annual Swing-a-Ring celebration in Riverside Park. Hope to see you all there!

Power Snatch 7x3
155-185-185-185-185-185x2-175

Followed that up with Back Squats 5x5
225-225-245-255-265
My legs were exhausted from yesterday. This is far below my 5 rep max but I was really struggling for the 265. Hopefully the WOD tomorrow has no squat type movement in it. See you then.

hey adam, i meant to ask you, where'd you buy the scale you use to measure out your Zone portions?

I wanted to do the Snatch WOD but I needed to sleep in. Between kettle"hell", my intro to GHD situps (courtesy of Court and the "Nox")and yesterdays WOD my entire core and lower extremities are fried.

Yeah my legs were pretty gone after the past couple of days workouts, and my snatch form is just terrible right now.

Hey dammit we got a food scale from GNC a few months ago, that we don't use at all. If you want it, its yours.

Another great work out, except I cant bend my legs! I think I learned my lesson dont jump with your arms!

Dammit,

I ordered mine off of Amazon. I just got a basic, cheap, digital scale. If you would like a direct link to the model I have, I can give it to you. Justin, however, seems to have one for you right now though.

A Cross Fit Kinda of Day

This day was motivated/inspired by Allison and Keith, who talked me into going to Swing-A-Ring with them.

This Cross-fit day starts with Josh and the onramp Snatch class. An hour later, I still can't do a decent Snatch despite everyone’s help. I did perfect the jumping-jack snatch though.

Then I move on to Court’s Kettlebell class. After an hour of trying to learn the Snatch, I should have rested. I think I sat through most of the class.

After the Kettlebell extravaganza, I go with the new super-nice crossfitters; Jeff, Moon and Allison2 to Swing-a-Ring in Riverside Park. We meet-up with Keith and Allison who had enough sense to take a break after a morning of snatches and go get something to eat. Swing-a-Ring is a lot of fun and really humbling because there are 7-year-old girls that can swing better than I can. But. I do have an advantage, the Santa Monica rings were home turf for me 20 years ago, so at least I had some experience on rings and don’t embarrass myself.

Next, Allison2 and I accompany Keith to his yoga class. My first yoga class ever is intimidating, scary and painful. An hour and a half of something new, and painful is challenging. I sweat a lot; this is not your girly yoga. The instructor, company and the scenery is really good, so it is hard to complain.

Finally, it is time to Celebrate Cinc-De-Mayo and have a few too many margaritas to dull the pain!

Thanks to all of my partners in crime, I had a great time, let’s do it again!

Sounds like a fun day Ron!

First free weekend I've had in a while. Great crowd and a fun day.

Power snatch triples to 145. Managed to work in some tall cleans followed by clean & jerks to 185. Finished off with 5x5 back squats.

Like Adam, I hope tomorrow's workout doesn't involve too much squatting!

I think I broke a bone in my hand. On the bright side, I think I did it with my PR 145lb snatch.

I also managed to do some back flips on the swing-a-rings. Fun!

It was great to have Ron and A2 in yoga class. Ron did very well considering he can't touch his toes.

I hope I don't have to use my hands tomorrow. Maybe some more margaritas will help.
