Get On Up!
Monday 070507
3 rounds, for time:
10 Turkish Getups (alternate left and right, in any way you choose)
20 Knees-to-Elbows
30 Box Jumps
Post time to comments.
This workout is Keith's creation, as CFHQ has a scheduled rest day today. So blame him.
Here's some photos from the lunchtime class:

I took a bunch more pics and posted them to my Flickr page, starting here. Enjoy.

What's a turkish getup??
Posted by: Allison? Allie? A2? at May 7, 2007 2:57 PM
Ohhh I've been wanting to do the get up, but I will pass on the knee to elbow thank you very much! :)
A2: a turkish get up is when you get off the floor with a kettlebell in one hand held up in the air!

WE MUST DESTROY THESE PEOPLE!

used the 20-pound dumbbell (still can't take the weight of a KB on my forearm bruises from kettlehell last thursday).
time: 22:29 (a.k.a. Dead Fucking Last).
the guys at the 7am class left me in their dust--especially Brian and Kevin, whose times were practically half of mine.

I was telling a couple of people about this one night at the box. My sister goes to that gym, the one where they kicked some guy out for grunting, and she gets me in. It's a nice commercial gym and it's affordable too. For $20/mth my sister has unlimited access during their 24/7 hours and can bring a guest at anytime for free. The staff also helps her put together a workout routine. It's not a bad deal and even though the gym is geared for the light excerciser, I have seen some lifters with heavy loads in the weight are.
Overall, I think the crowd is one geared more towards an affordable workout and less of one to get away from the so-called "muscle heads". Either way when I visit I make note to stay away from thrusters.

Stuck here. At 1830 manager throws a couple ppt slides in front of me to work on for a presentation tomorrow. Just an hour job, but...
Oh well, job -> money -> CrossFit (oh and food, rent and whatnot).

We are a haven for grunters. God bless Planet Fitness for sending more people to us. I hope they open up more Planet Fitness chains in NYC. Still, I don't know how anybody can hear the grunting over the ipods, tvs and crappy pop music.
I love the idiots on that video. God bless the stupid and please don't let them breed.

17:01 with the 24k kb... Had to switch out on my last few TG to the 16k because I couldnt keep my arm locked anymore. Those damn KTE are my "achilles heel". Im going to need to GTG on those because they are killing my time.

I'm doing the run. Going to go do it myself this morning in Central Park. I really need to do more running anyway since I'm training for the NYC marathon--plus it's a beautiful day. The big full loop of the park is 9.7 km. Here's a map if any of you want to do it yourself:

Is there a class today at 1230? or is it just a run by yourself day?
Posted by: Allison? Allie? A2? at May 8, 2007 7:43 AM
A2--classes are still on. They always are. If ever the WOD on CFHQ's site is un-doable at the Box, we just come up with a substitute workout.
OK, off to do my run now!
Posted by: Allison at May 8, 2007 8:03 AM
Thanks Allison.
Now who knows the substitute WOD ??
Posted by: Allison? Allie? A2? at May 8, 2007 8:18 AM
What did they do in the morning class?
Posted by: alex at May 8, 2007 9:04 AM
Josh was leading class this morning, so if he came up with something good, then that's what we'll do. However, if it's total crap, then Court will come up wiht something for 12:30. If that's total crap, then I'll come up with something awesome for the 6pm class. If Michael doesn't like it then he can come up with his own workout.
Though as a general rule we try to run the same workout all day long so everyone can compare with everyone else throughout the day.
If it was up to me, I'd be doing handstands.

I just signed up for the New York Road Runners Race this sunday a 4 miler @ 8am and on Tuesday May 22 @ 6:30 pm a 5K. During the registration they asked what team I'm affilated with and I typed in Team CrossfitNYC. Hope to see some of you crazy's out there with me.

Handstands would have been nice.....but Keith always comes up with a few "extra courses" of fun....!
"Scott's Mom" is really tough..........
Posted by: ron at May 8, 2007 9:58 AM
I will be there Brian, but i am in the slow pack in the back!
Posted by: alex at May 8, 2007 10:16 AM
I would be in the back with Alex if I ran. Instead I'll be the cheerleader on the sidelines holding a huge poster with glitter!
Posted by: Allison? Allie? A2? at May 8, 2007 10:40 AM
Brian, I think you're inspiring me to sign up for Sunday's race. I've been meaning to get back into NYRR racing this year (besides that little thing called the marathon I've got to do this November), and after today's 10K, 4 miles will be so easy.
Now we just have to get some Team CrossFitNYC shirts made...
