I'll be carrying around boxes and furniture (for time) on Saturday, so probably no swingaring for me. :(

13:21 as Rx'd with pull-ups on the thick bar

Juan-

The 'deck of cards' workout is a wrestling classic, and one for which you don't need anything beyond a standard deck. Assign an exercise to each suit (spades = pullups, hearts = squats, etc.), then toss out cards from the top of the deck, and do the number of reps as the number on the card. (Traditionally, ace is one, other face cards are ten, and the joker is something like 20 of some other horrible exercise). Great 'fun'.

i'm definitely going there ASAP!!!

oh, and i'll drop into the gym too... ; )

i used 12kg kettlebell and did jumping pullups so there is no sense posting my score-but it was fun! Allison thanks for all the help-and Keith thx for teaching me how to skin the cat!

as rx'd, 9:00.

then dan, paul the marine, and i did that clean, push press, push jerk, split jerk thing that was on the video for five or six sets.

and *then* paul had a great idea: we should do 3 rounds of
10x65lbs one-handed snatch
20x24" lateral box jumps
20xkb push-ups.

yeah. great idea! :(

Michelle--you're very welcome. I had lots of fun assisting the lunchtime crowd (and passing out cookies afterward). What a great turnout we had, including a visit from a CrossFitter from Manchester, England, along with some new faces.

I did the workout at 7am and subbed 1 pood for 1 and 1/2 and jumping pullups for regular pullups (really need to learn to kip!). 9 minutes, 25 seconds. Thanks, Avery, for motivating me to go faster (and beating me by 15 seconds.)

I'm definitely down for the Swing-a-Ring event after classes on Saturday, and may even be inspired to bake some more cookies for said event...

Josh--any chance we'll have t-shirts and/or postcards by then? It'd be great to wear them/take them to the event and spread the word about CFNYC!

Allison you have to teach me to kip next!

Posted by: juan g. at April 30, 2007 10:25 PM

Re: kipping--I just keep watching videos of Annie, Eva T., etc., kipping. I figure I'll learn by watching closely and imitating, which is how I learned to samba...

Oh, and I got my first double-under today! Woot!

Posted by: Allison at April 30, 2007 10:49 PM

Allison's on a high and it's called CROSSFIT!!! Lucky you!

Posted by: Kevin at May 1, 2007 1:42 AM

Posted by: michelle at May 1, 2007 7:06 AM

Michelle, today's workout is the push press, 7 sets of 3 reps each. I'll see you tonight at the 6pm class, as I'm planning to come in to help teach it.

No Kevin.
There was a guy, Paul Titus I believe, who was in the 6pm class. He was a monster, 7:40 or so. He was also the inspiration for the "after workout" with Dan and Dammit.

I turned in a 10:20.

Posted by: Paul S at May 1, 2007 2:03 PM

Yeah, Paul and his inspired extra workout that, given his beguiling enthusiasm, I was unable to resist. It was actually fun, but I am so sore that lifitng a glass of water to my mouth is a tremendous chore. Sheesh.

Posted by: Dan O at May 1, 2007 2:12 PM

Nice job Paul 10:20 is great.
